In addition, Ms. Preston represents individual clients in criminal cases before the State and Federal Courts.

J. NELSON THOMAS

Nelson Thomas is one of the founding partners of Dolin, Thomas & Solomon LLP. He has more than a decade's experience in employment law litigation and counsel. Mr. Thomas litigates a range of matters from complex employment class action lawsuits to litigation involving all types of individual workplace disputes, ranging from claims of illegal termination and harassment, to actions to recover unpaid benefits. His practice also includes negotiating severance packages, and advising on contractual issues, as well as clients' rights in the workplace. He has spoken and written widely on these topics. While his practice today primarily focuses on representing employees, he has represented numerous employers - from large international companies to local entrepreneurial start-ups, a depth of experience that gives him an edge in litigating cases for employees.

 

In 1999, the judges of the United States District Court for the Western District of New York awarded Mr. Thomas the Special Service Award for "his excellence in the vigorous representation of his clients." In 2002, he received the 40 Under 40 Award, which honors leaders who have made a significant contribution to the Rochester community.

PATRICK J. SOLOMON

Patrick Solomon is a founding partner of Dolin, Thomas & Solomon LLP. He concentrates his practice representing individuals in negotiations with employers and in federal and state court in the areas of employment discrimination, collective- and class-actions for unpaid wages, wrongful denial of benefits, breach of employment contract, and the handling of administrative proceedings.

Before forming Dolin, Thomas & Solomon LLP, Mr. Solomon served in the Labor and Employee Benefits Group at Nixon Peabody LLP, where he counseled small, mid-size and Fortune 500 companies on state and federal laws governing employer-employee relations and the implementation of work force reductions. Mr. Solomon uses this unique insight into both sides of an employment dispute to better serve his individual clients.

Mr. Solomon and Nelson Thomas were selected by the Monroe County Bar Association to be the sole provider of employment advice to the Bar Association.

In 2005, Mr. Solomon was selected to receive the forty under forty award, which honors leaders who have made a significant contribution to the Rochester community.

In 2007 and 2008, Mr. Solomon was chosen to the New York Super Lawyers Upstate Edition.

Mr. Solomon played on the Iroquois National Lacrosse Team in the 1990 and 1998 World Lacrosse Championships in Perth, Australia and Baltimore, Maryland. He also played in three national championships on the 12-time national champion Hobart College team.

MICHAEL J. LINGLE

Michael Lingle supports the firm in a broad range of employment law cases and executive compensation issues, and has served as lead attorney on several occasions. He counsels and litigates on a wide variety of employment matters, including discrimination, sexual harassment, ERISA, FMLA, FLSA and breach of contract claims. Prior to joining Dolin, Thomas & Solomon LLP, Mr. Lingle was an associate in the executive compensation and employee benefits group in the New York City office of Shearman & Sterling LLP. His experience working on the corporate side, especially with contracts, proves invaluable when negotiating contracts and severance agreements for employees.
